Topoclimatic zoning of continental Chile

چکیده
In this study, the topoclimates of continental Chile are mapped. The mapping involves identification homogeneous zones based on relationships between climatic variables that characterize a location and topography influences spatial behavior these variables. topographical zoning study area is conducted using statistical methodology combination principal component analysis cluster analysis. climate, topography, topoclimatic yield 20, 8, 96 clusters, respectively. Maximum variability identified in sectors with mountain ranges intermediate depression (especially valley areas), minimum detected coastal sector. Furthermore, only one units has an larger than 50,000 km2, whereas 46.8% have surface areas below 2,000 km2.

Fisheries in Chile: Small Pelagics, Management, Rights, and Sea Zoning
Fishery-management policies based on the allocation of exclusive fishing rights, territorial use rights, and sea zoning are recurrent tools for achieving sustainability. In Chile, the 1991 Fishery and Aquaculture Law reformed division of the right to fish between the artisan and industrial subsectors, introduced sea-zoning (spacebased) strategies, and established a differential individual trans...
متن کاملTopoclimatic Habitat Models
Abstract Topoclimatic models use topographic descriptors (elevation, slope, aspect, landscape position...) as primary input to build climatic surfaces that describe spatial and temporal patterns of such physical factors as temperature, incoming solar radiation (insolation), precipitation, soil moisture, and evapotranspiration. Topoclimatic habitat models translate these physical factors into in...
متن کاملThe distribution of littoral caprellids (Crustacea: Amphipoda: Caprellidea) along the Pacific coast of continental Chile
Many littoral caprellid species have a very ample distribution, some having been reported from all over the world. The cosmopolitan distribution of many littoral caprellid species might be facilitated by the fact that they are often associated with fouling communities on floating objects, which have a high potential of far-range dispersal. This dispersal potential may also have implications for...
متن کاملChanges of macrobenthos composition under different ENSO cycle conditions on the continental shelf off central Chile
The course of environmental conditions and shelf macrobenthic communities off Central Chile ( 361S) during the strong 1997–98 El Niño (EN) event is compared with a subsequent and basically ‘‘normal’’ period (2002–2003). Changes in macrofaunal community, feeding mode structure, and biomass size spectra are contrasted over time with changes in oceanographic and sediment settings, in order to asse...
متن کاملDeveloping the Automated Zoning Procedure to Reconcile Incompatible Zoning Systems
This paper concerns the problem of matching incompatible zonal geographies, for example in the context of comparing census outputs over time. The automated zoning procedure (AZP) proposed by Openshaw (1977) is reviewed, and a population stress statistic proposed which may be used in an AZP algorithm in order to maximise the match between two zonal geographies. An implementation of this approach...
